Machines & AI will put you out of business by 2025 (unless you make this pivotal mental shift)
Let’s cut straight to the chase.
💊Here’s a tough pill to swallow:
Your business or side-hustle will disappear by 2025 unless you begin actively producing tech, data or proprietary assets.
Who (or what) will replace your business?
Artificial Intelligence. Machine Automation. ROBOTS!
NOW, am I saying the world will be overrun by advanced machines like in Terminator or The Matrix?
NO, not at all — but YOUR business very well will be overtaken by machines if you don’t take THIS swipe seriously.
Here’s some quick projections from the World Economic Forum’s “2020 Future of Jobs Report”:
- “85 million jobs will be displaced by machines by 2025”
- by 2030, there will be 1 billion positions that will need to be filled by a workforce that doesn’t have the required skills…
The timeline looks like this:
In a world full of fear of artificial intelligence, machine takeovers and jobs lost to automation, I’m going to walk through a much frictionless and lucrative path.
You heard the old phrase:
“if you can’t beat them, join them?”
This phrase is similar to the path you’ll need to take — and with this path, you will be able to take advantage of the tech wave, rather than being over taken by the wave.
Not only will this position your business or side-hustle to survive the oncoming tech wave — you’ll actually thrive.
Here’s the steps:
1. Capture Customer Data (without code)
2. Build Automated Systems (without code)
3. Create or License Proprietary Assets (and make the big bucks)
As we move through these 3 steps, I’ll use a real-world example to make these concepts crystal clear.
We’re going to go with this one:
Human Landscapers VS Robot Lawn Mowers
AI and machine automation will soon be kicking the landscaping business in the butt if they don’t pivot and adjust to the upcoming tech wave.
This makes a landscaping business the perfect example for this demonstration.
Let’s get moving on to step 1:
1. Capture Customer Data
In the business world, data is digital gold.
The more and accurate data a business has on your customers (and possible future customers), the more insight they have to serve them better and create more revenue opps for them.
Let’s be clear. I’m not referring to:
- a contact list: these lack valuable behavioral data or
- social media followings: you don’t own or control that data, Zuckerberg and Elon owns it
I’m referring to an Email List.
Now I get it, as unsexy as an Email List may sound, realize that Email lists are extremely effective when it comes to capturing customer data.
Proof: you’re probably reading this Sunday Swipe right now due to the simple fact that you’re on my Email List.
(👆🏾 think about that for a second)
When you build an Email List effectively, you get a lot more than just an email address.
You get real customer data on interests, trigger points, purchase behavior, topic and product polls, geographical data, and much more.
All this data compounds into one powerful asset you’ll be able to leverage against the machines in Step 3.
Notice the email history showing the emails I’d received.
The different dots indicate emails I’ve opened, those I’ve clicked links inside and even the time and date I opened the email.
With the right email system, you can zoom down to this granular level of detail like this👆🏾 or learn from a high-level perspective — powerful stuff.
SO, how would this work for our landscaping business?
Easy. A landscaper would capture email addresses from his current customer-base.
Capture emails for job confirmations, customer support, deals and value-based emails of product recommendations, lawncare guides and tips.
As this list grows and more subscribers interact with your emails, you’ll begin growing valuable customer data to leverage later on.
2 tools to pull this off fast⚡ and easy:
1. Convertkit to handle email sign up forms, subscriber management + more.
2. Carrd to launch your no-code site at lightning speed – here’s a Sunday Swipe I wrote that walks you through launching a site with Carrd in less than an hour.
2. Build Automated Systems
The only entrepreneurs and side-hustlers that need to be worried about automation are those who don’t use automation themselves.
Automated systems can vary in many forms of complexity, from something as simple as an email autoresponder, to something as complex as an automated car manufacturing plant.
Here’s the key:
Whether or not your business or side-hustle should take advantage of automation is non-negotiable.
And here’s where Convertkit saves the day — again!
Convertkit is an all-in-one, turnkey business automation system!
To get a better understanding, let’s look at landscaping business:
Our landscaping company could use automation to put clients on monthly subscription plans.
Convertkit has subscription monetization features to handle this all with no-code.
Now our landscaper will see sales coming in automatically like clockwork.
Plus they can create Automated Email Sequences to send service date reminders, prep tips and more — all with out the landscaper lifting a finger…
Take THAT machines!
But here’s the best part — let’s really take this simple system and customer data to another level.
3. Create or License Proprietary Assets
Customer Data and Automated Systems are great for building up revenue.
BUT Proprietary Assets are great for building wealth and leverage.
Let me explain:
Here’s a list of Proprietary Assets:
You want to have more time and energy to build (or access) as many Proprietary Assets as possible.
These are where the real money is today and will be in the future.
NOTE: Not ALL of these👆🏾 are required. Only create assets if it makes sense to your operation.
I’ve highlighted some of the assets most overlook because they didn’t realize they were actually valuable.
It’s THESE assets you should use to leverage the machines and AI.
(BTW: if you’ve done steps 1 and 2, you’re already leveraging some of them)
To make this clear, let’s go back to the landscaping company one last time:
One of the biggest perceived threats to a landscaper is the dreaded robotic lawn mower.
Why?
Because robotic lawn mowers are:
- electric
- quiet
- automated
- manicure yards all week long
- All the things a human driven lawn mower isn’t
If a landscaping business looked at robotic lawn mowers the normal way — they’d see steep competition.
But if the landscaper focused on building Proprietary Assets, they’d see an ocean of opportunity.
Remember the phrase from earlier, “if you can’t beat them, join them”.
Here’s an opportunity to do just that (and make a ton a money in the process).
The landscaper just has to shift from the mentality of manually cutting yards to managing a fleet of robot lawn mowers who will do the cutting for them.
⚡99% of businesses I’ve talked to struggle the MOST with THIS👆🏾 mind shift.
So let me break it down on how this could work:
The landscaper’s customers will love them:
- now their yards remain manicured throughout the week
- they don’t have to hear loud noisy lawn mowers
- in many cases they’ll be saving money
On the other hand, the landscaper can scale up to as many “robo” clients as he/she can manage.
THIS is the power of making a pivotal mental shift towards AI and automation instead of away — the ability to SCALE.
⚡Take a second and think about what machines, AI and software is coming down the pipeline that could be a problem to your business or side hustle.
